As an artist there are times when you just have to venture in places where you otherwise wouldn't. Well, in 2012, with great care I managed to capture (before its closure sometime in 2014/15) this view of Ystrad Mynach signal box.
We know through the local news that the train lines from Wales to London will transform to electric and this includes the Valley Lines as well. Who knows whether this has played a part in its closure or is it simply that the signal controls will move to a central building - maybe, Cardiff.
Either way, another piece of local history has been lost - Ystrad Mynach station is half a mile to the right.
