This oil painting captures the view towards Cefn-hengoed from the fields at Cefn Llynau farm.
Whilst the colliery closed in 1991, the winding house and the winding gear still remain. The main site of the colliery being developed into the Redrow, Cwm Calon housing estate. The Blacksmiths and other buildings are seen and these have been converted into private dwellings. On the right is the colliery baths - the red brick building which in 2022 remains blocked-up and derelect.
This is a view looking East, and it captures the cows feeding, on that morning.
