"A Castle fit for a king", is one description of Ruperra Castle. King Charles 1 on his visit to South Wales visited Tredegar House in Newport, Ruperra Castle and LLancaiach Fawr in Nelson. He stayed the longest in Ruperra castle.
This painting shows the East facing wall. The Castle is overgrown with trees and vegetation but it is still there. Although this shows a close up, details were taken from a distance since the Castle is in private grounds.
