Oil on canvas - 12x16 inches (30.5x40.6 cm).
Here we are standing on the Hengoed platform which will take us to Pengam and on to Rhymney. The train on the other side has come from Pengam and is leaving for Ystrad Mynach station and on to Cardiff. The foot bridge at the far end replaces a stone bridge used for Hengoed High level station which closed in 1964. The station was to the left - now overgrown with trees though there are remains of both platforms. Hengoed/Maesycwmmer Viaduct is to the left and is now used as part of the national cycle network. |
