Originally known as the Hengoed and Maesycwmmer station this view from 1964 shows the arrival of the Mountain Ash bound steam train as it crosses over Hengoed viaduct. The station closed in 1964 and left derelect for a number of years. The station and viaduct now forms part of the national cycle track.
As a family we used the low level station quite a lot but I never ventured up to the high level station so it is pleasing for me to have done this.
