Today the view has totally changed, the Ystrad Mynach to Caerphilly by-pass cuts through the field in the foreground and the lane just visible on the left has gone.
I used a sketch of mine from the early 80's to paint this scene. Also check out the detail shown below, it shows the farm from a different view.

This detail below is from a painting "Looking South towards Caerphilly from Hengoed". It shows Cumdu Farm back in the early 90's and shows the lane leading up to the farm. The lower lane has now gone. You can just see the remains of the old Brecon to Newport railway track
